flyjong has been released

Hello, I’m Yuu!

I’m happy to announce that I finally released flyjong, a project I’ve been working on for over two months.

The core of the game was finished in about a month, but I kept polishing the small details until I was satisfied. As a result, both the release and my blog updates ended up taking longer than I had originally planned. Still, I’m glad to finally share it with everyone.

My original plan was to release the game on itch.io. However, since quite a bit of time has passed since my previous project, Dicewar, and the game is currently available only in Japanese, I decided to publish it on my own website instead.

Rather than adapting four-player mahjong into a two-player version, flyjong was designed as a two-player mahjong game from the very beginning. This leaves plenty of room for expanding the gameplay in the future.

The browser version is now available, and I’d also like to expand it to mobile platforms and eventually offer it as a web service as well.

The current objective is to finish three matches with a total score of at least 25,000 points. It may be quite challenging unless you’re already comfortable with mahjong.

If people enjoy the game, I’d love to add more content in the future, including cheating items, additional characters, and new scenarios inspired by classic strip mahjong games.

That said, this project took quite a while to complete, so I’d like to spend a little time working on something different or polishing some of my older projects.

I also refreshed the design of this blog. Besides the new look, I improved my publishing workflow as well, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to post updates more regularly from now on.

I’ll also try to be more active on X, so I hope you’ll follow along!
